Latest in hull design and waterjet propulsion systems

We partnered with a world-leading marine company known for some of the best engineering and naval architecture minds in the industry.  

In business for over 200 years, employing nearly 20,000 ship building professionals, and having built over 7,000 world-class ships to date, the littoral combat ship (LCS) they produce is the first of a new family of surface ships designed for the US Navy. The LCS is a fast, highly maneuverable, networked surface combat ship, which is a specialized variant of the family of US future surface combat ships known as DD(X). LCS is designed to satisfy the urgent requirement for shallow draft vessels to operate in the littoral (coastal waters) to counter growing potential 'asymmetric' threats of coastal mines, quiet diesel submarines and the potential to carry explosives and terrorists on small, fast, armed boats.

LCS utilizes waterjet propulsion, combined diesel and gas turbine engines (CODAG), which can be configured for high sprint speed or slower speeds for traveling the open ocean.  Hull design high sprint speed, shallow draft, and propulsion systems represent some of the latest advances in technology implemented on the ships. Broadwind Energy is proud to have worked closely with this industry-leading marine company to produce fabrications for four large transom rings that serve as critical components of the jet propulsion system which enable faster, more flexible ship transportation.
